The Armenian Red Cross Society provided cash support to the people most affected by hail in Tavush and Lori regions

The Armenian Red Cross Society provided cash support to the people most affected by hail in Tavush and Lori regions

On August 25, 2,268 people (472 from Tavush and 1,796 from Lori), 428 families, who were the most affected by the heavy hailstorm that occurred on June 15, received cash support from the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) in order to mitigate the consequences of the disaster. 38,000 AMD was provided to each person through "Haypost", and a total of 86,184,000 AMD was transferred.

The financial resources for humanitarian assistance to the Armenian Red Cross Society were provided by the Disaster Response Fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The ARCS carried out an individual assessment of the needs of the most affected families and final adjustment of the lists in close cooperation with the local self-governing bodies of Tavush and Lori regions.

Cash support was provided to households with 75 to 100 percent of their crops and livestock lost, with obvious damage to residential areas, in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Families with more than five members, including two or more children under the age of 18,
  • Families of more than five members, including two or more disabled members,
  • Families with two or more single-parent children under the age of 18,
  • Families with three or more children under the age of 18,
  • Elderly only- families of people 65 and older,
  • Families whose only source of income was damaged agricultural products.
