On February 22, the program " “Institutionalising a Volunteer First Responder Service in Armenia (VolFire)” project to be implemented by the ARCS kicked off, the aim of which is to contribute to the strengthening of population protection systems in RA Kotayk, Lori, Armavir, Ararat, Shirak, Gegharkunik, Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Tavush, Aragatsotn regions through volunteering capacities.
By August 2025, volunteer fire-rescue bases will be established in the mentioned regions, taking into account the successful experience already implemented in the communities of Parni in Lori and Garni in Kotayk regions.
The area of the bases and fire engines will be provided by the Rescue Service of the RA Ministry of Domestic Affairs, and the Armenian Red Cross Society will provide the training of volunteers, repair of the bases and technical equipment.
The project will be implemented with the support of the Austrian Development Cooperation and the Austrian Red Cross, and in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Domestic Affairs and Armenian Caritas.
