    In the autumn of 2020, life changed in an instant for thousands of families in Nagorno-Karabakh. A brutal 44-day war broke out between Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh, forcing thousands to flee their homes. For children, it meant losing not only their homes but also the safety and innocence of early childhood. Nare was only three years old when her family escaped to Armenia in search of safety. After some time, they returned home, hoping for stability.

    The official opening of the Armenian Red Cross Society’s (ARCS) 24-hour Care center in Gyumri took place recently. The event was attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Arsen Torosyan, ambassadors of various countries with diplomatic missions in Armenia, the governors of Shirak and Lori regions, members of the National Assembly, and ARCS partners.

    RENEW: Restoring Livelihoods and Enhancing Well-being of conflict-affected population from Nagorno Karabakh in Armenia –  Providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

    NK Crisis: In autumn 2023, Armenia experienced a massive influx of individuals following the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) conflict starting on 19 September. According to the Government of Armenia, over 100.000 people arrived in Armenia at the end of September 2023 to seek support for the settlement in their new home. Those displaced to Armenia left behind their homes, valuables, livelihoods, essentially most of what constituted their material possessions. The mental and emotional strain that the displaced have endured over months will affect them for years to come. It is expected that this will have a serious impact on their physical and mental health as well as their social and economic integration.
