The Hungarian Government has provided the Armenian Red Cross Society 500,000 euros to flood victims in Lori Region and for forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabagh.

Through this project, Armenian Red Cross Society with the help of Hungarian Helps Agency have made significant strides in addressing the immediate needs of families affected by the severe flooding in the Lori region. One of the most notable achievements has been the successful distribution of relief items to 250 families, which has directly impacted their day-to-day lives. These parcels contained a variety of staple foods, health issues, especially in the aftermath of flooding, hygiene kits and bedding supplies, including pillows and blankets. The provision of these essential items was critical in addressing both the physical and emotional needs of the affected families.

Overall, the achievements of this project not only addressed immediate needs but also laid the groundwork for long-term recovery and community resilience. In addition to food assistance, the provision of hygiene kits was another critical achievement. After a disaster, access to hygiene products is crucial for preventing health issues, especially in the context of crowded living situations or makeshift accommodations.

The involvement of both adults and children in these psychosocial sessions was particularly noteworthy. Children, often unable to articulate their feelings verbally, benefited from activities that allowed them to express themselves creatively.

Despite the significant achievements of the project, several challenges emerged that impacted its overall effectiveness and reach.

One of the primary challenges was the scale of the disaster. The severe flooding in the Lori region resulted in widespread damage and displacement, affecting far more families than the project was able to reach. This gap in coverage underscored the urgent need for expanded efforts and additional funding to assist all affected individuals.
