On the 21st of February, within the framework of the program ''HIV Prevention in Armenia'', an educational session was held for the children, attending Day Centre of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese on the topic of “Oral hygiene tips”.

The program activities involve a component of supporting the beneficiaries of the Day Centre socially, by providing them food and hygienic parcels.

In this stage of the program implementation, the social support component has been supplemented with the educational one. Based on the experience of working with children, the staff members working on the project, suggested Day Centre representatives to continue the cooperation in terms of starting a work with children too. After the approval of the idea by the Day Centre, the preparation stage has started.

The presentation on the topic was introduced by the team member Yester Chobanyan, dentist by profession, who is responsible for the educational section of the program. She talked about the main tips and rules of oral hygiene, starting with the right choice of the toothpaste and toothbrush ending with the information of the frequency of the regular dental visits.

The smooth running of the session was provided by the support of the psychologist of the program, the photographer, ARCS volunteers as well as the staff members of Day Centre. Laura, from Cameroon, who is organising discussion clubs for the ARCS volunteers on the topic of HIV/AIDS joined ARCS volunteers for this event.

The meeting was summed up with the answers of the doctor to the various questions raised by the children. Aiming to use the gained knowledge in everyday life Armenian Red Cross Youth has prepared special parcels with appropriate hygienic kits for the children, delivered by the volunteers.
