Responding to Covid-19. ARCS continues to support the most vulnerable

    

From the very first day of the State of emergency declared as a result of  COVID-19 pandemic, the ARCS has been implementing activities in response to the needs of vulnerable groups in collaboration and coordination with the Commandant's office, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, all the Administrative Regions of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality. 

 

ARCS Psycho-social support centers operate in emergency mode, based on the needs the volunteers visit lonely elderly and disabled people to help in households, including helping in daily shopping.

 

All ARCS care services continue to operate in the same mode, humanitarian assistance is being provided to lonely elderly, disabled people and refugees.

 

Taking into consideration the worsening social conditions of the vulnerable groups as a result of pandemic, ARCS actively implements local and international resource mobilization.

As a result, in April-May, Armenian Red Cross Society will support 11,050 people in all over of the country,  by basic food and protective measures basket, defined by the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Beneficiaries will be childless lonely pensioners and people with disabilities.

 

From March 27 to April 5, the Armenian Red Cross Society sorted out, packed and distributed food donations in cooperation with the RA Government, particularly the Prime Minister's Office and the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

 

1027 beneficiaries In Armavir, Shirak, Lori regions and Yerevan, lonely elderly, disabled people, orphanage graduates and the homeless people received food packages.

 

The donors are "Milko" (CJSC), " Sevani Ishkhan" (CJSC), "Sonanush" (LLC), "Green Farmer" (LLC), "Eco Fresh mushrooms" (LLC), "Ingo Armenia" (LLC), "Agro Trade" (LLC), "Golden Baker", "Royal - Armenia", "Smogsoyoiz" LLC,

 

On 7-10 april, in cooperation with the “My Step” Foundation, food and protective measures parcels purchased by the Foundation were distributed to 351 elderly people and people with disabilities in Aragatsotn region.

 

The humanitarian assistance is provided based on the lists of beneficiaries provided by the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. 

 

All these activities are being implemented thanks to our partners: the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross, the US Government and the European Union.
