Launch of the Program “Restoring Livelihoods and Well-being of the Population Affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict in Armenia”

Since December 1, 2023, the Armenian Red Cross Society, with the financial support of the European Union Humanitarian Aid and the Austrian Red Cross, has been implementing the program titled “Restoring Livelihoods and Well-being of the Population Affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict in Armenia”, targeting displaced persons residing in the Armavir, Ararat, and Kotayk regions.

Within the framework of the program—running through December 2024—individual and group psychological support will be provided to around 10,000 people; 500 teachers will be trained on child protection and psychological first aid topics; six safe spaces ("Smiley Clubs") will be established for children; 3,232 people will receive cash assistance; and 1,000 individuals will receive livelihood support (including counseling, employment assistance, and referrals).

The main goal of the program is to improve the psychological well-being of displaced people and contribute to their economic integration.

The Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), as a full member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.

As an auxiliary to the government in the humanitarian field, the ARCS has been operating throughout the entire territory of the Republic for over 104 years in the following strategic directions: disaster management, population movement, social-health care, first aid, youth work, dissemination of humanitarian values, and more.

The mission of the ARCS is to reduce the vulnerability of the population by mobilizing the power of humanity, preparing to face situations that may cause vulnerability, and providing necessary assistance to support people living in difficult socio-economic conditions.
