RENEW Project Extended to Support Long-Term Integration of Displaced Families from Nagorno-Karabakh

Yerevan, Armenia – June 2025

The Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), in partnership with the Austrian Red Cross and funded by the European Union (EU) through its Humanitarian Aid Operations, is pleased to announce the extension of the “RENEW: Restoring Livelihoods and Enhancing Well-being of conflict-affected population from Nagorno - Karabakh in Armenia” program until April 2026. This extension marks the launch of a new component aimed at deepening the protection and integration support for displaced individuals.

Launched in December 2023, the RENEW project has provided mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), multi-purpose cash assistance, and livelihood services to thousands of displaced people. To date, over 13,500 individuals have benefited from psychosocial support and psychological counselling, 2,750 have received cash assistance, and 4,000 have been supported with job placement and livelihood services.

With the continuation of the project, ARCS introduces a new activity: "Protection and Integration Oriented Case Management Support." This new component will address the increasing needs of vulnerable families still facing challenges more than a year after displacement. This includes:

· Individual case management in close cooperation with United Social Services, with a strong focus on a needs-based approach. This includes strengthening access to legal, social, health, and psychosocial services, while promoting community-based protection and inclusion mechanisms.

· Civic orientation sessions,

· Cultural integration events

This new phase will also build on the strengths of the existing Integration Centers and continue MHPSS activities for all groups with a now greater emphasis on men, parents, and long-term community-based mental health approaches.

The RENEW program remains committed to providing tailored, holistic support to those affected by the 2023 displacement from Nagorno - Karabakh. With the support of the EU and its partners, ARCS will continue to stand by displaced families in their journey toward stability, dignity, and social inclusion.
