    Lori Regional Branch

    Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), following its humanitarian mission, aims at supporting the most vulnerable, to meet their humanitarian needs and alleviate suffering.  

     In Lori Region we support:

    • most vulnerable lonely elderly
    • children and youth
    • families of the Missing persons
    • families in need
    • vulnerable communities
    • TB patients
    • Covid-19 isolated population
    • Displaced people as a result of NK conflict escalation.

     

     Disaster management

    Disaster Risk Reduction/Community Resilience Raising

     

    • Rapid and efficient respond to disasters and emergency situations: needs assessment, humanitarian aid provision
    • Formation of community volunteer response teams, equipment and uniform provision
    • Training of teachers and pupils
    • Evacuation and simulation drills in schools
    • Evacuation signs placing in schools
    • Awareness raising of Disaster Risk Reduction
    • Support to the building and renovation of mud removal facilities
    • Support to the renovation of fire water reservoirs
    • Support to the water system modernization
    • Support to the community outside lighting
    • Support to the kindergartens and cultural centres modernization
    • Climate change adaptation centre


    Response to NK conflict escalation

    535 people received AMD 68000. In total 36.380.000 AMD.

    231 lonely elderly and disabled people from Vanadzor, Alaverdi and Spitak

    Care of professional nurses (5 nurses)

    Support of home care providers (15 home care providers) and volunteers (40 volunteers)

    Special home care equipment and hygiene items

    Initiative groups for Healthy aging activities in 13 communities.


    Stigma and discrimination reduction and psycho-social support

    24 tuberculosis patients

    Psycho-social support to the patients, who interrupted the treatment

    Talks on stigma with the patients, their relatives and the primary health care providers

     

    Covid-19 response 

     

    Lonely elderly, vulnerable families, isolated population, persons with disabilities, Syrian-Armenians, orphanage graduates, beneficiaries of nursing homes, mine victims

    3903 packages of food and hygiene items.

    Dissemination of Humanitarian principles

    The goal is the dissemination of Humanitarian principles among the population, especially Youth, involve new resources and volunteers, and enlarge the network of the partners. 

     

    • Dissemination sessions in the schools and educational institutions of Lori urban and rural communities about Red Cross history and fundamental principles
    • Thematic events, such as games and competitions, etc.
