    Ararat Regional Branch

    Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), following its humanitarian mission, aims at supporting the most vulnerable, to meet their humanitarian needs and alleviate suffering.  

     

    In Ararat Region we support:

    • most vulnerable lonely elderly
    • children and youth
    • families of the Missing persons
    • families in need
    • Prevention of diabetes and diabetes care among elderly
    • TB patients
    • Covid-19 isolated population


    Disaster Management 

    Nagorno Karabakh conflict escalation response

    1791 persons received 68000 AMD. Total 121,788,000 AMD.


    Social Support and Health Care

    "Food Support and Capacity Building of ARCS Branches in the Regions of Armenia''

    The Armenian Red Cross Society, with the support of the Swiss Red Cross, implements ''Food Support and Capacity Building of ARCS Branches in the Regions of Armenia'' program in Aragatsotn, Ararat, Tavush, Kotayq regions, with the aim of providing 80 lonely elderly with high calorie nutrition.


    Food for lonely elderly people

    In 2017 Within the framework of the program, Soup Kitchen has been opened in Masis, Ararat region, for the most vulnerable elderly.

    For 80 people hot meal is served in Masis city soup kitchen three times a week.

    • organization of various social and cultural events

     

    Prevention of diabetes and diabetes care among elderly

    Prevent diabetes and the complications of diabetes among the elderly with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

    Improved self-management and diabetes care skills for people with diabetes.

    Raising public awareness (awareness campaigns).



    Stigma and discrimination reduction and psycho-social support

    98 tuberculosis patients

    • Psycho-social support to the patients, who interrupted the treatment  
    • Talks on stigma with the patients, their relatives and the primary health care providers


     Covid-19 response 

     

    Lonely elderly, vulnerable families, isolated population, persons with disabilities, Syrian-Armenians, orphanage graduates, beneficiaries of nursing homes, mine victims

     2812 packages of food and hygiene items. 


    Dissemination of Humanitarian principles 

    500 pupils and teachers yearly

    The goal is the dissemination of Humanitarian principles among the population, especially Youth, involve new resources and volunteers, and enlarge the network of the partners.

    • Dissemination sessions in the schools and educational institutions of Gegharkunik urban and rural communities about Red Cross history and fundamental principles.
    • Thematic events, such as games and competitions, etc.
