Candlelit march in memory of those who have died from AIDS
On May 16 the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) organized a candlelit march in memory of those who have died from AIDS. As it was scheduled, the march started from ARCS headquarter (Paronyan 21) at 20:30, crossing Gr. Lusavorich, Italia streets, Public Square, Abovyan, Tumanyan streets, Mashtots avenue and finished at the park near the State Conservatory. About 150 young volunteers took part in march. In the park, the candlelit ceremony started with speech disseminating the mission of the day's event. After the silence minute the participants with couples placed their candles on the ground on the symbol of fight against AIDS which was previously placed there. On a big screen films and informational materials about HIV/AIDS were broadcasted there in parallel. During the whole event informational stands were placed, informational materials and red ribbons were distributed. Informational about march and the mission of the day's event was placed in popular social web sites (odnoklassniki.ru and facebook.com), announcements have been placed through creeping line on national TV channels, as well as invitations were sent to NGOs, youth organizations and educational institutions: Universities of Yerevan and RA Regions.
